The City of Schwedt project was initiated by dimitri hegemann of Tresor & Kraftwerk (Berlin) and the Happy Locals project.
Reviving a Town Through Creativity
Dimitri brought together a talented team that included Andreas Böttcher, Matthias Hamm, Ernesto Leal, and Sally Below/SBCA.
The project's core mission was to reinvigorate a town striving to retain its young people. The approach was simple yet powerful: ask young people what they wanted, then provide the space and tools to help them make it happen.
Over the course of three years, the project evolved with various contributors taking on different roles. One notable highlight was an exhibition held at London's Red Gallery, showcasing the creativity and ideas that emerged from this inspiring initiative.
